Underneath

How many have you told?
I wonder, who all else can see?
It's your words against my actions,
How much harder could it be?

No words could ever recreate
What I've felt inside. You see,
It's not the same as what,
On the outside, it merely appears to be.

Why must it be so hard?
To convince these tainted souls,
That behind all of this masquerade
There's nothing left but hollow holes

Am I who I appear to be?
Behind these dying eyes.
Is there more to greet these empty hearts,
Than such a simple, broke disguise?
